Cloudy skies, muddy fields was the setting for the Haslett Varsity Girls Soccer game against rival Dewitt on Mon, May 2. The tone for the game was set, our team had doubters when facing the powerful Dewitt Soccer team.

The team as a whole began the game with an explosive fire in them, stacking up to the talent of the other team. The score remained 0-0 until Senior Charley Campbell beat their center defender and took a great upper left 90 shot to defeat their goalie raising the score to 1-0. The score remained the same for most of the game due to the teams perseverance to win. That all changed when Dewitt powered through to score in the final minutes of the game sending them into double overtime.

Unfortunately ending with a loss for our girls varsity team due to a hard fought goal by Dewitt. This game proved to the doubters that they can and will be stronger and will do anything to prove their worth.

“We went into the game giving 100% effort and we ended with 100% effort. I’m so proud of the girls on my team for their hard work. I can’t wait for the chance to play them again in districts” Said Campbell.
