The national presidential election took place on Nov. 8 and Haslett High School held an election of its own – a mock election.
The AP Government class ran the mock election for the presidential election as a way for students who could not vote to express their opinions. The AP Gov. students ran the polling themselves and used a system that allowed the AP Gov teacher Katherine Burns to have a live feed of the responses and announce the results out by the end of the school day.
\Afterwards the AP Statistics classes took this as an opportunity to do some exit polling. The exit polling involved asking people to fill out the form to answer questions about their voting. They asked the students as they left the voting.
In both the official election and the mock election Donald Trump won, but in the school he won by a greater margin.
