Peoples Thoughts on the 2020 Summer Olympics Being Postponed.

By Zavier Christians

2020 was a very eventful year. There was the United States presidential election and the start of a global pandemic to name a few. However, one event that did not take place in 2020 that was supposed to was the Summer Olympics. The Olympics were scheduled to take place in Tokyo, Japan beginning on July 24. However, due to Covid-19 numbers rapidly rising at the time, the Olympics have been rescheduled to begin this summer on July 23.

We asked some students what if they were disappointed about the Summer Olympics being postponed, and here is what they had to say.

“I was disappointed to hear that the 2020 Summer Olympics were canceled because it was going to be the first time softball was going to be in the Olympics since 2008,” said senior Caitlyn Traviglia. “I have always loved watching the Olympics because it’s the best athletes in the world and it’s cool to see what athletes at the highest level are like.”

“I was a little disappointed because I like watching the Olympics, I think it’s a lot of fun to watch, but I also understand that it is safer for them to postpone it, due to the fact that they don’t want to risk people getting Covid,” said senior Natalie Kurdziel.

“I’d probably be more disappointed if they didn’t postpone it with the pandemic,” said senior Ethan Krause.
